On preparing for the first commute of the year

Well, the Castafiore is ready. I attached a new milk crate to her this evening and she is now outside locked to the signpost. I will need to find some more reflective doodads for the crate, but otherwise the bike is ready to roll. I packed cycling gear into my commuting backpack. All I need to do now is to make sure my helmet is at the front door and the appropriate gloves are in my biking jacket.

Hi Daniel, I stumbled upon your blog quite by accident (was searching for "defi acton vale" in fact) and am interested about your plans. I am a fellow Montreal cyclist, I hail from Cape Breton, I cycled Montreal to Cape Breton solo last summer (via Portland/Yarmouth; you can read about the part I've bothered to write up at http://cyclophilia.blogspot.com/), I've also cycled the Gaspesie in the Velo Quebec Grand Tour, I've done another solo cycling trip in Nova Scotia, and I've travelled by car in the parts of NF you are interested in... If you're interested in exchanging opinions and suggestions, send an email to me at victrola@arobas.net. Someone else whom you might consult if you need (free) advice is Gary Conrod at Atlantic Canada Cycling, http://www.atlanticcanadacycling.com/acc/inquiriescomments.html. Have a great time with your trip.
